Hamburger SV sign Zambia striker Patson Daka on free transfer

Hamburger SV have signed Zambia international striker Patson Daka on a free transfer, strengthening their attacking options ahead of the new Bundesliga season. The move was completed after Daka finished his medical and joined the squad at their training camp in Austria.

A proven striker with European experience

Daka arrives in Hamburg after leaving Leicester City in May, bringing with him valuable experience from the Premier League and European competition. The 27-year-old is widely regarded as one of Zambia’s leading footballers and has built a strong reputation through his performances in Austria and England.

Before moving to Leicester in 2021, Daka starred for Red Bull Salzburg, where he scored 54 goals in 82 appearances and played a key role in the club’s domestic success. His pace, movement and direct style made him a standout forward in Austrian football.

What Hamburg gain

For Hamburg, the signing offers a blend of experience, versatility and upside. Daka provides a different attacking profile and gives the club a player capable of stretching defences and creating chances in transition.

The deal also reflects Hamburg’s ambition as they prepare for life back in the Bundesliga. Adding a player with Daka’s pedigree should help them increase their depth and improve their attacking threat for the campaign ahead.
